A 36-year-old man was stabbed and critically wounded in Garden Grove and a suspect was later arrested, authorities said Sunday.
The stabbing happened about 10:10 a.m. Saturday in the 12800 block of Safford Street, according to Garden Grove police Detective Evan Beresford.
The victim was allegedly stabbed by a person later identified as 33-year-old Gustavo Pablo Munguia in the residence they shared.
Detectives learned that Munguia and the victim were roommates at a sober living home.
Police have not yet learned the motive behind the stabbing, Beresford said.
The victim made it outside to the front lawn and police administered life-saving measures. He was then transported to a hospital, where he underwent a four-hour surgery. He was last listed in critical condition, Beresford said.
Police tracked Munguia to Perris. Riverside County sheriff’s deputies stopped Munguia when he was seen driving away from a residence. He was taken into custody and booked for attempted murder, Beresford said.
Anyone with information on the stabbing was asked to call Garden Grove police at 714-741-5413.
