Authorities Sunday were investigating a rollover crash in Cathedral City that left a woman with moderate injuries and might have been caused by road rage.

The crash was reported around 1:50 p.m. Friday on Varner Road west of Bob Hope Drive, according to the Cathedral City Police Department.

First responders found the victim lying on the ground. Police said she had been ejected from the vehicle she was driving. The woman was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.

A two-year-old child was also in the vehicle, but did not appear to be injured, police said.

An air ambulance flew the toddler to the Riverside University Health System Medical Center for evaluation.

“While investigating the collision, witnesses identified another vehicle who was involved and determined this collision was a result of road rage. The parties in the other vehicle were not injured,” Police Commander Jon Enos said. “At this time officers are still conducting their investigation and will determine the appropriate charges at the conclusion of this investigation.”

Anyone with information about the crash was urged to contact the Cathedral City Police Department at 760-770-0300 or at tips@cathedralcity.gov. Information can also be reported anonymously through the WeTip hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME or www.WETIP.com.
