A man was taken into custody Thursday after stealing a docked yacht and colliding with other vessels in Newport Harbor, police said.
Newport Police Department officers began pursuing the man after he stole the vessel about 10 a.m., according to a department statement.
The man crashed the yacht into at least two other docked boats while joyriding in the harbor, then collided with a wall as he attempted to flee the scene, according to the NBPD.
Police took the man into custody following the final collision. His name was not immediately released.
Debora Dolly, who was inside one of the vessels the man collided with, told CBS2 the force of the collision caused part of her boat to crash in on her and hit her head. However, she told the station she was not seriously injured.
No further injuries were reported. The extent of the damage caused during the theft was not immediately known.
