A woman was fatally struck by a vehicle in Gardena, authorities said Sunday.
The crash was reported at 6:17 p.m. Saturday at South Vermont Avenue and West 149th Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A Toyota Prius was going southbound on Vermont Avenue, passing Marine Avenue, when the car struck the woman in the crosswalk, said Gardena police Lt. Alex Rivera. It was not known whether the motorist driving the Prius was cited or arrested.
Paramedics transported the woman to a hospital, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Melanie Flores.
She later died from her injuries at the hospital, Rivera said.
