A fire that erupted Wednesday in a Moreno Valley residence caused major damage to the property, but no injuries were reported.

The blaze broke out about 6:50 a.m. in the 15000 block of Emma Lane, near Iris Avenue, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said five engine crews and a truck company, numbering about 20 personnel, were sent to the location and encountered heavy smoke and flame within the single-story residence.

Firefighters fully contained the blaze 20 minutes later and completed mopping up the scene shortly after 11 a.m.

The house is one of only two located on that segment of the street and sits across from a baseball field. It was unclear whether the property was occupied.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
