Some mobile phone users trying to call 911 in Riverside weren’t able to connect Saturday, prompting the Riverside Police Department to advise callers to use an alternate method of reaching public safety services until the problem is resolved.
According to the agency, T-Mobile users dialing 911 for police and fire were encountering “fast busy signals,” leaving them unable to connect to emergency services.
The city’s Public Safety Dispatch Center learned of the discrepancy and reached out to T-Mobile to fix it, but it was unclear whether the problem would be immediately resolved.
“All other cell phone services providers will go through,” according to a police statement posted to social media.
The department said that, at least for Saturday, if T-Mobile customers need police or fire service in Riverside, it’s recommended that they dial the city’s non-emergency number via their mobile phone: 951-354-2007.
