An assault suspect armed with a knife was shot and killed by Los Angeles Police Department officers in Panorama City Wednesday
Officers were called just before 2:20 p.m. to the 8700 block of Tobias Avenue, near Parthenia Street, according to LAPD Officer Jader Chaves.
“Officers utilized less lethal and an officer involved shooting occurred,” the LAPD said in a statement. “The suspect was struck by gunfire and taken into custody.”
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics were called to the scene and pronounced the man dead. His name was not immediately released.
No officers were injured in the shooting.
Police advised that traffic on Tobias Avenue from Parthenia Street to Rayen Street would be impacted for an unknown duration as authorities conducted an investigation into the shooting.
No further details were immediately available.
