A motorist who died when her SUV collided with a tractor-trailer at a Jurupa Valley intersection was identified Friday as a 62-year-old Rialto resident.
Margarita Lopez was fatally injured about 5:10 a.m. Thursday in the crash at Etiwanda and Inland avenues, within a warehousing district north of the Pomona (60) Freeway, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The circumstances behind the collision were under investigation.
County fire officials said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and found Lopez trapped in the wreckage, suffering life-threatening injuries.
She was extricated a few minutes later and taken to Riverside Community Hospital, where she died shortly after 6 a.m.
The trucker suffered minor injuries but did not require hospitalization, according to the fire department.
Deputies from the sheriff’s Jurupa Valley station were investigating the deadly wreck.
