A 40-year-old woman was killed and another person seriously injured when a sports sedan crashed into a pickup truck and a garage in Moreno Valley, authorities said Tuesday.

Keonia Brown of Moreno Valley was fatally injured about 11:15 p.m. Monday in the 11900 block of Indian Street, near Ironwood Avenue, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Sgt. Robert Grmusha said Brown was a passenger in a 2003 Acura MDX that was going northbound on Indian Street, “at a high rate of speed,” when it crossed the southbound lanes, hit a curb and “became airborne,” crashing into a parked Chevrolet Silverado and then the garage of a home.

Fire department crews reached the location minutes later and pronounced Brown dead at the scene.

Officials said the driver, whose name was not disclosed, was freed from the wreck and taken to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley for treatment of major injuries.

Grmusha said the injuries were not life-threatening.

“Both the Chevy and the garage sustained major damage as a result of the collision,” Grmusha said.

No one in the house was injured.

The crash remains under investigation, and alcohol or drugs have not been ruled out as possible factors, Grmusha said.
