A 26-year-old convicted felon suspected of illegal firearms possession was being held Wednesday in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Fracisco Javier Castro Madera of Thousand Palms was arrested Tuesday and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, ammunition and high-capacity magazine, along with violation of probation and child endangerment.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, at about 7 a.m. Tuesday the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force and the sheriff’s department Special Enforcement Bureau found four 9mm semi-auto handguns, ammunition, and a single high-capacity pistol magazine hidden within the headboard of Madera’s bed.
He is set to appear at the Indio Larson Justice Center on Thursday for his arraignment.
