An 18-year-old man suspected of shooting a teenager in Moreno Valley was being held Wednesday in lieu of $1 million bail.
Willie Lee Clark of Moreno Valley was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside on Tuesday on suspicion of attempted murder.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, about 3 p.m. Monday, Clark was involved in an unspecified confrontation with the victim, identified only as a Moreno Valley boy, in the 27000 block of Brodiaea Avenue, near Nason Street.
The suspect pulled a gun and shot the teen, then fled the scene, Sgt. Ed Baeza alleged.
He said that patrol deputies and paramedics arrived a short time later and found the boy seriously wounded.
The victim was taken to nearby Riverside University Medical Center for treatment. His condition Wednesday was unknown.
A possible motive for the shooting was not provided.
Baeza said that detectives obtained a description of the alleged shooter, ultimately identified as Clark, who was located and taken into custody without incident about 3 a.m. Tuesday on Tradewinds Place.
Background information on the suspect was not available.
