A 42-year-old man’s body was found Monday on a Moreno Valley roadway.
The remains of Mario Zavala of Moreno Valley were located about 12:40 a.m. on the shoulder of the southbound lanes of Pigeon Pass Road, just south of Hemlock Avenue, near the Moreno Valley (60) Freeway, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Sgt. Robert Grmusha said that deputies were called to the location and discovered Zavala dead, and the condition of his body revealed “traumatic injuries consistent with a traffic collision” for a pedestrian.
The cause of death and circumstances surrounding it remain under investigation, Grmusha said, without disclosing whether detectives are searching for a hit-and-run suspect, or whether any parties involved had already been identified and questioned.
