A motorist, a man approximately 35 years old, was killed Saturday when his speeding gray Tesla left the roadway in Encino and crashed into a tree, authorities said.

The gray Tesla was moving at an “unsafe speed” westbound on Victory Boulevard, east of White Oak Avenue, where it left the roadway and struck the tree, according to a police officer at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division.

The motorist, the lone occupant inside the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
