A man who allegedly pointed a gun at pedestrians and vehicles in the Fairfax/Park La Brea area was shot Friday by at least one Los Angeles police officer and taken into custody.
The shooting at the intersection of Beverly Boulevard and Poinsettia Avenue happened around 9:20 a.m., according to the LAPD.
Police said they responded to the area on reports of an armed man who was pointing a weapon at passing vehicles and other pedestrians.
According to reports from the scene, the man fired the gun at responding officers, who returned fire. The man made his way into an apartment complex, where he fell to the ground, and police took him into custody, while also recovering a gun allegedly dropped by the suspect.
The suspect’s condition was not immediately known, but video footage showed police officers walking him toward an ambulance.
