A fire that erupted Friday in the Santa Ana River bottom on the west end of Jurupa Valley burned seven acres before it was fully contained.

The non-injury blaze was reported about 11:10 a.m. in the area of Marlatt Street and Limonite Avenue, on the south side of the river bottom, close to the city limits of Norco, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said multiple engine and hand crews from the county, city of Riverside and Corona were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a moderate rate through thick vegetation, approaching the Hidden Valley Wildlife Area.

Cal Fire water-dropping helicopters and air tankers made several runs on the brusher, aiding firefighters in tying up gaps as they contended with access challenges along the heavily forested river bottom.

No homes or other structures were threatened.

Shortly after 3 p.m., the blaze was declared completely contained.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
