A suspected gang member with a felony warrant for kidnapping was arrested in Banning and remained jailed Saturday in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Deputies spotted Jose Muro-Galvan, 26, around 6:30 p.m. Friday in front of a home in the 1300 block of East Williams Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

In addition to the felony warrant, sheriff’s officials said Muro-Galvan had a misdemeanor warrant for drug possession. Authorities did not disclose specifics about the suspected crimes behind the warrants.

When deputies approached Muro-Galvan, he allegedly fled from the residence, prompting a brief foot pursuit.

Authorities said he was eventually found hiding inside a nearby business in the 1300 block of East Ramsey Street and was allegedly holding 2.7 grams of methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia.

Muro-Galvan was arrested and booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility for his warrants. Sheriff’s officials said they will seek additional counts for drug possession, possession of paraphernalia and resisting arrest.
