Sheriff’s homicide detectives will announce a $20,000 reward Friday at a news conference for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects responsible for the shooting deaths of Javier Carachure Menchaca and Juan Antonio Orozco.

The news conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. at 1 Cupania Circle in Monterey Park.

On Nov. 14, 2021, at approximately 1 a.m., Carachure Menchaca, 19, and Orozco, 22, were at a street take-over racing event at the intersection of Pine Avenue and Bullis Road in Compton seated in their vehicle parked adjacent to 1940 North Bullis Road when an unknown suspect walked up to the front passenger door of their vehicle and shot both victims at a very close range through a window, said Alba Ibarra of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Both men died at the scene of multiple gunshot wounds.

Family members of the victims will also be in attendance and will ask for the public’s help in providing any information that will lead to those responsible for the murders of their loved ones, Ibarra said.

The news conference will also be broadcast live via LASD Facebook and Instagram accounts:
