A fire erupted Thursday behind a residence in Moreno Valley, destroying a patio deck and almost extending into the house before firefighters stopped it.
The blaze was reported about 12:15 p.m. in the 21900 block of Glen View Drive, near Box Springs Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
At least four engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames raging in the patio area at the rear of the 2,000-square-foot house.
Crews quickly deployed to protect the single-story residence, preventing the fire from reaching the interior, according to reports from the scene.
The blaze was fully contained by 12:30 p.m.
An ambulance was sent to the location, but it wasn’t immediately clear whether anyone was injured, or if the service was requested by a battalion chief as a precaution.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
