A 59-year-old Menifee man pleaded guilty Friday and was immediately sentenced to six months in jail for a rash of burglaries in Laguna Beach five years ago.

Reed Myron Swingley pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree burglary, five counts of second-degree burglary, one count of attempted burglary, all felonies, as well as a misdemeanor count of grand theft, according to court records.

The burglaries occurred July 13-15, 2017, throughout the city. Victims included Mozambique restaurant, Horst Architect and other businesses and residents.

Police recovered much of the stolen property from his vehicle when he was arrested in 2017, police said.

Swingley was also placed on two years of formal probation.
