A fire that erupted Friday in a Jurupa Valley home caused significant damage, displacing a dozen people residing there.

The non-injury blaze was reported about 2:50 p.m. in the 5900 block of Paramount Drive, near LaRue Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said multiple engine and truck crews were sent to the location and encountered flames raging in the attic space of the single-story residence, which had been evacuated.

Firefighters contained the two-alarm blaze within a half-hour.

Heavy smoke and fire damage made the property uninhabitable, displacing five adults and seven children, officials said.

Red Cross personnel were requested to assist the victims with finding temporary alternate lodgings.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
