A spectacular fire gutted a warehouse in Huntington Park Tuesday, but no one was hurt.

Firefighters were sent to the 5800 block of Soto Street at about 4:45 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The flames burned through the building’s roof, which collapsed, and firefighters went into a defensive operation, working successfully to prevent the flames from spreading to other structures.

After about 90 minutes, the firefighters made good progress in extinguishing the fire in the 200-foot-by-100-foot building, and the flames were declared out at 7:36 a.m., the county fire department reported.

“LACoFD units arrived to an outdoor fire (that) spread to (the) warehouse,” the fire department said in a tweet.

The arriving firefighters found cardboard boxes on fire against the front of the building, according to KTLA5, which reported that the warehouse stored items including mattresses, linens and blankets.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
