A two-alarm fire erupted Friday at a Moreno Valley motel, causing damage but no injuries.

The blaze was reported about 6:55 a.m. at the Regency Inn & Suites in the 24800 block of Sunnymead Boulevard, just west of Perris Boulevard and south of the Pomona (60) Freeway, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said that multiple engine crews and truck companies were sent to the location and encountered heavy smoke originating from the rear section of the lodge, which had been evacuated.

Firefighters contained the blaze within 30 minutes, and it was under complete control a short time later.

The extent of damage to the structure was not immediately known.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
