Four people were arrested during a DUI checkpoint, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department announced Sunday.
The checkpoint was conducted on from 7:30 p.m. on Saturday until 12:30 a.m. Sunday at State Street and Sagecrest Drive.
A total of 963 drivers were contacted, 33 of whom were cited for driving without a valid driver’s license. Five were cited for driving with a suspended driver’s license.

During the checkpoint deputies arrested one person for allegedly driving under the influence. Two other people were arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of a controlled substance. One person was arrested for vehicle theft, and the vehicle was recovered. A total of 12 vehicles were towed, reported the sheriff’s department.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
