A law enforcement sting aimed at cracking down on sex trafficking in Moreno Valley netted more than a dozen arrests, authorities said Wednesday.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the crackdown was carried out in concert Tuesday by multiple entities, including the county’s Gang Impact Team and the Anti-Human Trafficking Team.

Specific locations were not disclosed.

“Over the course of this operation, 12 males and three females were arrested for soliciting sex acts,” according to a sheriff’s statement. “The investigation revealed the females were sex workers, who were offered resources to assist them in getting out of this dangerous lifestyle.”

The suspects received misdemeanor citations, but it was unclear whether any of them were booked into jail.
