Firefighters contained and extinguished an intense fire after battling heaving flames at a Hollywood strip mall for nearly an hour and a half Thursday.
Fire crews were called at 1:48 a.m. to 1840 N. Cahuenga Blvd. south of Franklin Avenue where they found a one-story a 5,500 square-foot one story L-shaped strip mall that contained a laundromat and a 7-Eleven engulfed in flames, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
Both the 7-Eleven and the laundromat were heavily damaged and CBS 2 reported the fire is believed to have started in the laundromat and spread through the businesses’ shared attic, according to the LAFD.
It took 81 firefighters almost 90 minutes to extinguish the flames.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
