A 43-year-old parolee suspected of stealing a package from the porch of a house in Moreno Valley was arrested Wednesday.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Moreno Valley Station’s Robbery Burglary Suppression were notified about a social media post on Monday that showed a man taking a package from the front porch of a home in the 27000 block of Solitude Avenue, said Sgt. Robert Martinez.

Deputies identified the theft suspect as Gilbert Hernandez of Moreno Valley and took him into custody in the area of Alessandro and Perris boulevards, Martinez said.

Hernandez was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for theft, violation of parole and possession of a controlled substance.

Esnelia Zapata, a 41-year-old Moreno Valley resident who was wanted in connection with an ongoing fraud and theft investigation, was also arrested. He was booked for theft, fraud and a probation violation.

Anyone with additional information related to this case was encouraged to call Cpl. Kevin Mahoney or Deputy Aaron Sultan at the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station at 951-486-6700.
