A search for an auto-theft suspect who fled on foot prompted a temporary lockdown of two schools in the Valencia area Monday as sheriff’s deputies established a perimeter in hopes of snaring the suspect.
Sheriff’s officials said the suspect fled on foot in the 24200 block of Oak Vale Drive early Monday afternoon. Both Placerita Junior High School and Old Orchard Elementary School were placed on precautionary lockdowns during the search.
Shortly after 3 p.m., sheriff’s officials announced that the area had been cleared and the lockdowns were lifted. It was unclear if the suspect had been apprehended.
No further information about the suspect was immediately available.
