A fire erupted Friday in a Home Gardens residence, damaging the structure, from which several occupants escaped.
The blaze was reported at 3:40 p.m. near the intersection of Lyon and Victoria avenues, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that multiple engine crews from the county, with assistance from the Riverside Fire Department, were sent to the location and encountered flames in the two-story residence.
Firefighters found several occupants safe outside, but one family member was unaccounted for, according to reports from the scene. As of 4:15 p.m., the whereabouts of that person were still undetermined.
Crews contained the fire shortly after 4 p.m.
The cause was not immediately known.
