A woman walking across a marked crosswalk in Alhambra Tuesday was struck and killed by a vehicle.
Detectives responded to the intersection of Garfield and San Marino avenues at around 2:13 p.m. Tuesday after receiving multiple reports of a traffic accident involving a female pedestrian between 60 and 65 years old, according to Alhambra Police Department Police Department Sgt. Michael Montano.
The woman was critically injured, taken to a hospital by Alhambra Fire Department firefighters, where she was pronounced dead, Montano said.
A preliminary investigation determined that the vehicle’s driver attempted to make a left turn from westbound San Marino Avenue to southbound Garfield Avenue before hitting the woman crossing Garfield Avenue in a marked crosswalk, Montano said.
The vehicle’s driver remained at the scene after the accident, Montano said.
