A total of 24 people were arrested during a DUI checkpoint in Riverside, authorities announced Saturday.

The checkpoint was conducted at Market Street south of Third Street between 8 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday, according to the Riverside Police Department.

A total of 986 vehicles were screened, and 24 drivers were arrested for allegedly driving without a license or with a suspended license. There were no drivers suspected of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to police.

Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through thee National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
