Two people, possibly both teenage boys, were stabbed Monday near Los Angeles High School.
Details were sketchy, but the attack happened around 4:30 p.m. near the school in the 4600 block of West Olympic Boulevard. Unconfirmed reports from fire crews on the scene indicated the victims are boys, aged 14 and 16, who were taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
There was no immediate word on their condition.
According to reports from the scene, police believe the suspects left the area in two vehicles.
Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Alberto Carvalho called the attack “another senseless stabbing in our community near Los Angeles High School.”
“Our thoughts go out to the two victims and their families,” he said. “All of our students deserve to go to school free of fear and full of hope. We must work together to continue to provide safe passages to and from school. Law enforcement is currently investigating this incident, and we are working with the school to ensure our campus remains safe. Counselors and mental health support will be provided to those who may need it in school tomorrow.”
The stabbing is believed to have occurred outside the school campus, and there was no immediate confirmation if the victims were actually students at the high school.
