A firefighter was hurt battling a greater-alarm fire Saturday that spread into a commercial building downtown but was out in 30 minutes.
The fire was reported at 5:45 p.m. at 643 S. San Pedro St., said the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Margaret Stewart.
The flames were reported to have spread from outside the building to the inside, but more than 40 firefighters contained the damage to one side of the building, Stewart said. It was out at 6:15 p.m. and there was no one inside when the fire started.
One firefighter suffered an injury not believed life-threatening and was taken by paramedics to a hospital for treatment, she said.
