A man was arrested Tuesday after a pursuit that spanned several cities and ended in Garden Grove.
The pursuit began around 7:43 p.m. Tuesday in the 8800 block of Garden Grove Boulevard when officers were called regarding a person possibly under the influence of narcotics, according to the Garden Grove Police Department.
When the officers approached the man, he drove away, Sgt. Charles Starnes said.
Officers tried to conduct a traffic stop but the suspect refused to comply with their commands and a slow-speed pursuit continued through various cities. The pursuing officers attempted a variety of techniques to slow the suspect down but he maneuvered his vehicle through them and struck two patrol units, Starnes said.
A spike strip was eventually deployed and the vehicle was disabled. The suspect got out of his vehicle and ran into a residential yard, where a police K-9 was deployed and the suspect was taken into custody, police said.
The man, who police said was in his 30s, was taken to a hospital in unknown condition. No further information was immediately available.
