A greater alarm fire broke out at a strip mall in downtown Los Angeles Thursday evening.
Firefighters responded at 9:41 p.m. to the 700 block of East Ninth Street, near San Pedro Street, where flames were coming through the roof of a one-story row of commercial properties that house several textile and fabric businesses, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
The 103 firefighters at the scene are engaged in defensive firefighting operations, Humphrey said.
