A suspicious item found at a home in Burbank Thursday prompted a response from a county bomb squad that safely removed it.
The item was reported around 3 p.m. at a home in the 1800 block of Maple Street, prompting a closure of the street between Victory Boulevard and Jeffries Avenue, according to Burbank police and reports from the scene.
A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad was called to the scene to investigate the item.
By about 5 p.m., Burbank police announced that the scene had been cleared and the street reopened.
Officials told KNX News at the scene that the home had been previously occupied by a man who worked as a miner. The man recently died, and as his family was going through his belongings at the home, they discovered some of his work tools, including the suspected explosive, the station reported.
There were no reports of injuries.
