Search crews who responded to Magic Johnson Park in the Willowbrook area on a report that a man had jumped into the lake but did not emerge pulled a person from the water Monday in critical condition.
Firefighters and a dive team were sent to the 900 block of East El Segundo Boulevard at 12:39 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Fire officials subsequently said that a body had been pulled from the water, but later said the person was in critical condition and being taken to a hospital.
Information on the person’s identity was not immediately available.
