Firefighters contained and extinguished a fire Wednesday in 55 minutes in the Elysian Park area.

Fire crews were called at 11:57 a.m. Tuesday near the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway and the northbound Harbor (110) Freeway where they surrounded the burned area and stopped all forward progress of the fire, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange.

Crews will remain on scene for an extended period for “mop up” duties, including monitoring smoldering debris, Prange said.

No injuries were reported.
