A 42- year-old motorist is in police custody Friday after fatally hitting a 52-year-old pedestrian in Harbor Gateway.
Officers from the Los Angeles County Police Department were called at 10:30 p.m. Thursday to Vermont Avenue and Knox Street where they learned the suspect was driving a beige BMW SUV north on Vermont and the pedestrian was walking across Vermont when the man was struck, LAPD Officer Melissa Podany told City News Service.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Podany said the LAPD’s South Traffic Division will be handling the investigation.
