The Corona Police Department Saturday was investigating the case of a 33-year-old man who died at Riverside Community Hospital after being hit by a train.

The fatal collision was reported around 7:10 p.m. Thursday in the 100 block of north McKinley Street.

Witnesses and BNSF employees told officers that the man appeared to intentionally walk onto the railroad tracks in front of the freight train as it approached and sounded its horn.

Medical personnel provided life-saving measures on the scene and the man was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. The man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, and was identified as Maurice Terril Davis of San Diego, according to Corona police.
