Santa Ana police Wednesday issued a plea for the public’s help to find a man they say is missing part of his skull, is legally blind and suffers from schizophrenia and dementia.
Richard Robert Leyva, 57, who went missing after being released from the Orange County Jail, is white, 5-feet-9, 140 pounds, and has a shaved head, according to police. His right eye is brown and his left eye is blue.
About 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, Leyva was released from the OC Jail, but has not contacted his family, police said. He was wearing a hooded gray-and-blue sweatshirt, gray leggings and black sandals.
According to police, about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Leyva was seen on surveillance video getting off an OCTA bus at the Newport Transportation Center, 1950 Avocado Str., in Newport Beach.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts was urged to call the SAPD watch commander at 714-245-8700.
