A 37-year-old man who had a stolen golf cart from Rancho Mirage pleaded guilty to a felony charge Thursday and was immediately sentenced nearly two years of formal probation.
Greg Peter Sullivan of Cathedral City was charged with one felony count each of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and receiving a stolen vehicle, according to court records. He pleaded guilty Thursday at the Larson Justice Center in Indio to one felony count of receiving a stolen vehicle and had the other charge dismissed.
Sullivan was immediately sentenced to formal probation until Aug. 30, 2025 and under his terms and conditions, he has to commit to the 60 days of custody with the Riverside County Sheriffs Office, according to court records.
Deputies responded shortly before 7 a.m. Aug. 18 to a report of a stolen golf cart in the 73100 block of Dinah Shore Drive, according to Sgt. Michael Judes of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The location of the golf cart was tracked down, with assistance from the victim, to a residence in the 30100 block of Muirfield Way, Judes said. The Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team and the Palm Desert sheriff’s station Burglary Suppression Unit assisted in serving a search warrant at the location.
The cart was found inside the garage at the residence, where Sullivan was also, Judes said. He was subsequently arrested and booked into the John J. Benoit Detention Center in Indio.
Sullivan has no prior felony convictions in Riverside County.
