A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday evening in a collision with a car in Palms.
Firefighters responded to the 3100 block of South Sepulveda Boulevard, near National Boulevard and the San Diego (405) Freeway, regarding a severe firey collision around 7:20 p.m., according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange.
Firefighters quickly knocked down the flames and discovered a man dead at the scene due to the collision and not the fire. The woman who drove the car was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Prange said her injuries were also not caused by the fire.
Multiple lanes were closed in the area while the Los Angeles Police Department investigated the collision and the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner arrived to retrieve the body.
Drivers were advised to avoid the area or to utilize an alternative route.
