A single-engine plane crashed onto a soccer field in the Wilmington area Monday, critically injuring both people aboard the aircraft.
The crash was reported in the 400 block of West Westmont Drive at 12:53 p.m., according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
“The pilot was still in the plane upon LAFD arrival and (was) extricated,” Stewart said in a statement.
“Both patients were transported … in `at least’ critical condition,” Stewart said. “There was no fire and no other patients reported.”
Authorities were investigating the circumstances of the crash.
