A pedestrian was struck and killed while walking on a Menifee street, authorities said Monday.
The man, whose identity was not immediately released, was fatally injured about 10:20 p.m. Sunday on McCall Boulevard, near Sherman Road, according to the Menifee Police Department.
Sgt. Matthew Bloch said the victim was in the westbound lane when the driver of a Honda sedan approached from the east at an unknown speed.
The motorist, also not identified, did not spot the pedestrian in the westbound lane because he was wearing “non-reflective clothing,” Bloch said.
The Honda impacted the victim, who suffered “severe” injuries, according to the sergeant.
“The driver pulled into a nearby gas station and contacted 911,” he said.
Riverside County Fire Department paramedics reached the location minutes later and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
The motorist wasn’t hurt.
