A man in his 60s was killed in a fire in a two-story duplex in East Hollywood Monday.
The man was found by firefighters in a second-floor unit that smoke was coming from, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart. He was taken to a hospital with severe burns and died from his injuries, Stewart said.
Firefighters responded shortly after 5:35 p.m. to the building in the 900 block of North Serrano Avenue near Romaine Street. The blaze was knocked down just before 6 p.m.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
