A man who allegedly stabbed a woman was hospitalized after a shooting involving Long Beach Police Department officers Wednesday, authorities said.
Officers went to the 300 block of 69th Way about 9 a.m. Wednesday on a report of a stabbing, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
“Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult suspect inside of a residence holding a knife,” an LBPD statement said. “Officers ordered the suspect to drop the knife; the suspect refused to follow officers’ commands at which point the officer-involved shooting occurred.
“The preliminary investigation indicates the suspect had stabbed a … female adult victim prior to officers’ arrival, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries,” police said. “Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the suspect and the victim to a local hospital for their injuries. No officers were injured.”
Police did not disclose the nature of the suspect’s injury or his condition. His name was not immediately released.
