A man was fatally shot Tuesday in the Valley Glen area of Los Angeles, and his killer was being sought, authorities said.

Officers were sent to the 12100 block of Califa Street, just west of the Hollywood (170) Freeway, at about 5:45 a.m., the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

The victim, who was in his 30s or 40s, died at the scene, police said. Information on his identity was not immediately available.

According to the preliminary investigation, the crime involved a “neighbor dispute,” police said. The suspect was described only as a man about the same age as the victim.

The shooting apparently occurred in an alley behind an apartment complex, according to a report from the scene.
