Authorities Tuesday were investigating a police pursuit in Buena Park that left the driver dead and several others injured after a two-vehicle collision.
Officers located a stolen 2015 Mercedes at about 11:40 p.m. Monday in the 7800 block of Beach Boulevard and attempted to pull the car over, the Buena Park Police Department reported.
The driver, however, kept going south on Beach and then turned west on La Palma Avenue, police said. The vehicle slammed into another Mercedes at La Palma and Knott Avenue, police said.
The driver — a 24-year-old man whose name was not immediately released — was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man in the allegedly stolen car was taken to an area hospital with moderate injuries, police said.
Two adults in the other Mercedes were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries while three children in the car were taken home by relatives, police said.
A man who was standing near the intersection was also hurt in the collision and was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries, police said.
None of the officers in the pursuit were injured.
