A 36-year-old Indio man with a history of committing burglaries was arrested for his alleged involvement in numerous commercial robberies in the city, police said Friday.

According to the Indio Police Department, Jacob Villanueva Garcia confessed to a string of burglaries committed from Nov. 12-19 in the Indio area.

Some of the places that were broken into include Savas Health, Pueblo Viejo Restaurant, Coco Freeze Ice Cream Shop and Flame Broiler.

Garcia was arrested without incident in the area of Monroe Street and Indio Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon. He was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio and held without bail.

Authorities said Garcia has a history of burglaries going back 10 years. According to detectives, he is on post-release community supervision probation for commercial burglary.
