A fire burned about three acres in the Hollywood Hills dangerously near the Hollywood Bowl and the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre.

Los Angeles firefighters with an assist from county firefighters stopped the forward progress of the fire near 2699 N. Cahuenga Blvd., which was reported at 2:17 p.m., said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange.

The department dispatched more than 100 firefighters assisted by water-dropping helicopters to knock down the flames in under two hours, Prange continued.

No structures were seriously threatened, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department, which reported the southbound Highland Avenue exit from the Hollywood (101) Freeway was temporarily closed, Prange said.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remained under investigation.

Crews will remain on scene into the evening to cool down hot spots, Prange said.
